Provincial Father Markus Hau Appoints House Leadership

Today is the so-called “Rector Transition.” On June 29, our Provincial traditionally presents the new or reappointed house leadership teams. Provincial Father Markus Hau expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who are willing to take on responsibility as rectors, vice-rectors, and council members in our communities. “It has been and remains challenging to continuously find brothers who are both willing and able to carry out these roles.” Appointments for Bruchsal, Vienna, and Salzburg are still pending. Additionally, Provincial Hau announced the new leadership for the Delegature in Nigeria.

Allowing Ourselves to Be Moved

“I thank the brothers of the new leadership teams, the Delegate, and the councils for their willingness and look forward to a fruitful collaboration,” said Provincial Markus Hau. “Hope can arise, and our common life as a Province can bear fruit if we succeed in entering into a dialogue that fosters deeper mutual understanding.”

“Whether there is hope depends on us—on how much we allow ourselves to be moved, to go forward, so that something new can emerge. I ask you all for your prayers, that we may hold hope in our hearts to take the necessary and right steps,” Provincial Markus Hau appealed, not only to the members of the new leadership teams but to all brothers in our Province.

Appointments within the Pallottines

The rector of a local community is appointed by the Provincial with the approval of his council and after consultation with the local community. The term of office for the leadership of local communities is three years. A member may be elected as rector of the same local community up to three consecutive terms.

The rector, with the assistance of his council, leads the local community in accordance with the Society’s rules. His primary duty is to ensure the spiritual and temporal well-being of the community and to effectively support its apostolate. He discusses the tasks to be carried out with the members in a spirit of brotherhood, keeps them informed about community matters, and regularly updates the Provincial on the community’s status. The councils of the local communities are appointed by the Provincial Council following consultation with the members.
